Giving Back to the Community, The Core DJ’s Style

The Core of DJ’s, along with Polo Grounds Music, FILA, and Capital One, in conjunction with Juggie of Q93, united in efforts and provided five unfortunate New Orleans families with a special dinner on March 13. Polo Grounds Music artists Diamond, Lil Josh & Ernest, with several other Core DJ executives, provided the families with dinner at Montrel’s Bistro in New Orleans, LA. Gifts were presented to the five families from the events sponsors.

Juggie of Q93 says, “It’s great to see the music industry not only contributing to our economy, but also giving back to our community in a personal way, it just goes to show that the music industry has a lot of heart.” This great cause was put together by Tony Neal Founder and CEO of the Core of DJ’s along with the other sponsors to provide the families with the necessary tools to help them on the road to recovery.
Tony Neal founded the organization in December of 2003. The purpose for organizing a DJ coalition was to empower and educate the music industry and the DJs. The Core has expanded to international lengths with a Latino division, DJs in Canada and as far as Australia. The Core has members ranging from music executives to New Orleans own Juggie of Q93, who is the host of Phat Phat N’ All that , Big Tigger, Clinton Sparks, The Baka Boys, Mr. Collipark, and Kid Capri to name a few. The Retreat acts as a reunion for the DJ’s by inviting them there to network with one another while attending various listening sessions, artist meet& greets and several artist/label showcases which have seen participation from Atlantic Records, Warner Brothers, Def Jam, Virgin, So So Def, Sony BMG, Rap-A-Lot, Jive, Bad Boy, and a host of other labels.

Overall this was a great event that helped these families in their recovery efforts that they have had to take on after Katrina. The dinner was great and the families enjoyed it. One family member said, “things like this shines a light on our community and let’s the rest of the world know that the music industry does care and are trying to help get us jump started. “All of the families that were honored at the event were grateful for all of the work that went into putting together such an event and would like to thank the Core of DJ’s for inviting them to dinner.
