As if Katrina was not enough for home owners after going through a rigorous process to rebuild while living in a formaldehyde government- provided trailer, thousands of Katrina victims may be in a situation. The Road Home grant program says it might have giving away to much aid to some Katrina victims. More than 5,000 cases will be necessitated for collection effort said the ICF International of Fairfax, VA a private contractor hired by the Road Home. The average amount to be repaid is estimated to be at approximately 35,000, and in some cases as high as 150,000. A third of qualified applicants have still yet to receive any rebuilding check as of this past week. A spokeswoman for the investigating company said that the overpayments are the result of the Road Home grant being recalculated to account for insurance money and government aid given to Katrina victims.
