Judge Leon Cannizzaro, who has been elected to public office five times during his 27-year legal career, starts the run-off with tremendous momentum thanks to a sizeable primary vote-lead, three new endorsements, and $100,000 of his own funds to finish the race on November 4.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to bring new leadership to the District Attorney's Office. This is our chance for change, to redirect our fight against crime and win,” said Judge Cannizzaro. He announced he is investing $100,000 to jumpstart his run-off campaign, adding to the half-million dollars already raised from donors in the primary and the $75,000 he previously self-funded.

Civil Sheriff Paul Valteau, State Senator Ed Murray and the black news monthly New Orleans Tribune added their endorsement to Judge Cannizzaro's campaign, which already includes endorsements from Council President Jackie Clarkson, Criminal Sheriff Marlin Gusman, and the Alliance for Good Government.

“This is a campaign about unity,” said Judge Cannizzaro. “Black and white, young and old, eastbank and westbank: We're together to make New Orleans safe, and that's what sets this campaign apart and ahead.”
