CARROLLWOOD— It could have been a scene out of a Hollywoodblockbuster set in Carrollwood early last Tuesday morning. A man robs a bank,attacks a doctor with a screwdriver, steals a car, gets a dose of an explodingdye pack, and winds up sitting in jail after cops catch him hiding out at home.

Kenneth Robinson, 43, is accused of a handful of crimes authorities say hecommitted in just a few minutes on Oct. 7.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested the man, of 3315 Nundy Rd.,after they said he robbed the Carrollwood Mercantile Bank and he invaded Dr.Scott Hegseth’s chiropractic office. There he stole a patient’skeys and stabbing the doctor multiple times with a screwdriver, reports said.

Robinson is being held at the jail without bond.

This is what the Sheriff’s Office saidhappened:

At 7:54 a.m., Oct. 7, Robinson was found inside the Mercantile Bank, 10821 N. Dale Mabry Highway.Authorities believe he had broken out a plate glass window behind a wall andentered the bank overnight.

When Robinson was discovered, he confronted a teller at gunpoint and demandedmoney. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money and had stuck adye pack in with the cash.

Robinson, who was wearing a ski mask, gloves and a hooded jacket, fled the bankon foot.

Less than 5 minutes later, Robinson went into Dr. Hegseth’s office andapproached a patient who was waiting for an appointment.

Robinson then demanded the patient’s keys. The commotion drew thedoctor’s attention who went out to the lobby to investigate. Robinsonattacked Dr. Hegseth, stabbing him in the arm and back with a screwdriverbefore fleeing the scene in the patient’s Lexus.

The chiropractor was taken to a hospital where he was treated for non-lifethreatening injuries.

As Robinson approached the area of Fletcher Avenue and Dale Mabry, the dye pack stashed withthe bank’s money exploded, forcing Robinson to ditch the vehicle.

Authorities in pursuit of Robinson called out a helicopter and a K-9 unit totrack him down. They found him at his home and were able to arrest him withoutfurther incident.

Deputies recovered money inside the Lexus.

Robinson faces a long list of charges including aggravated battery with adeadly object, two counts of armed burglary of a structure, two counts ofcarjacking – one successful, the other an attempt – and one counteach of robbery involving a weapon and causing criminal mischief, according tothe arrest report.

Robinson is a self-employed detailer, the report states.

He has been arrested before on charges that include three counts of sexualbattery, aggravated stalking, trespassing, domestic violence, child abuse,driving under the influence, and driving with a canceled, suspended or revokedlicense, according to his arrest record.
