Section: Community

The Recovery bi-weekly press conference on last Thursday included a lot of important
Recovery information about our city facilities, city and private sector developments. In an effort to continue to highlight and follow-up on some of this information, the Mayor's Office of Communication will be providing opportunities for you, our media partners, to capture as much information on the projects covered as possible.

This week, interview opportunities are available on the following:

Harrell Playground:
Marcia St. Martin, Executive Director of the Sewerage & Water Board, outlined the progress that has been made at the playground, former FEMA trailer site, in an effort to return that play area to the community.

Those improvements are:
Removal of all temporary utilities
Filling and grading the field
Installation of new sod and grass
Installation of new aluminum bleachers
Installation of new goal posts and fencing
Stripped and removed pre-existing synthetic track surfacing material

Harrell Playground is expected to be turned over to the New Orleans Recreational Department (NORD) in two weeks.

The final punch-list items are being reviewed this week and interviews and walk-thru's are available. Contact Lesley Eugene 416-7694 or Ceeon Quiett 799-5246.
