State of the Union

Section: Politics

Samuel Davenport

It has been seven years under the Bush administration and last night was the President last State of the Union address. In that address the President talked about a lot of initiatives that he have passed and that he will continue to try to pass in his last year. He also said “that if you send me an appropriations bill that does not cut the number and cost of earmarks in half, I'll send it back to you with my veto”. The President talk about adding jobs to the economy for a record 52 months and that the job market has slowed down. Something that I found very interesting was the meeting of North American nations that will take place in New Orleans this year in April. Under the Bush administration we have seen our fair share of trying times, when he first took office we dealt with 9/11, soon after we went to war and are still fight on foreign soil, and least we forget about Hurricane Katrina. Now we are upon a new ear of and saying goodbye to the Bush administration I hope for the better we have learned our lessons and that now we are a better country because of it.
