The good old summer time is here already and concerts are a wonderful way to enjoy the summer evening.

The Jefferson Chorale will present a concert on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Metairie Ridge Presbyterian Church, 105 Codifer Blvd., Old Metairie.

The chorale is under the direction of Louise LaBruyere and the concert will include sacred works by Handel and Mendelssohn, traditional spirituals and songs from the early days of rock and roll.

The concert is free. However, donations of nonperishable food items will be collected and given to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Refreshments will be served in the church's Fellowship Hall after the concert, which is sponsored by the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. .

It is time for the 18th annual St. Francis Xavier Monsignor Henry C. Bezou Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road, Old Metairie.

The tournament is scheduled for June 4 at the Chateau Golf and Country Club, 3600 Chateau Blvd., Kenner. The proceeds from this tournament helps pay for a full scholarship for an outstanding student in his or her final year at St. Francis Xavier School.
